Living Alfredo from Sugar Plum Bistro, Sac, CA. A review
While on vacation recently in my travels I came across a place called Sugar Plum Bistro in Sacramento CA. I had heard they serve raw foods there so I was anxious to find the place. While finding the cute place I was informed that they do raw foods once a week and I had missed it already but the chef was so nice he made me something up on the fly! This is a dish, I am pretty picky with because in my opinion my alfredo simply cant be beat (recipe will follow later) and I have seen them done so bad in the past. I was super happy to see the monster dish that later followed (pictured). The only thing I did was pick off the mushrooms because even 11 years of veganism cant make me think positively about these fungus things! Overall I was delighted! The portion size was great! the quality of the produce was awesome and the presentation was beautiful and abundant! It sat on a bed of kale which is AWESOME however my only complaint was that it was not marinated. Kale is a rather hearty green that takes a bit digesting, not to mention a bit on the bitter side, so I prefer it rubbed/massaged ahead of time. No to mention the liveliness of kale really comes out beautifully when marinated… super BRIGHT green!
I had some other raw treats here as well and they were o.k. I get the impression they are a bit new to raw foods but they are making strides in supplying great nutritious meals in the Sacramento area!
So if you are in the sacramento area and are looking for some tasty raw vegan, or just vegan, goodies don’t hesitate to stop by this place.
